What have I done last week?

 Last weekend I had my workshop with Duikvlucht. More art than trational quiltwork, but I managed to create a tradiotional quilt. I started with letters and paper from magazines. Cut and paste....

 In different colours.....

 More organised....that is what I like!

 With looking for letters and text in some old magazines, I find this a Flow, a nice magazine with a lot of inspiration for a lot of things. This picture belongs to an article about Love Letters....

I used the quote on fabric....

Can you read is: Everything that is supposed to be in heaven, is already here on earth

Nice isn't it?

Added some flowers and fabrics

And a new quilt is born.

 Pattern will be available at the OEQC in Veldhoven!

Punt en lijn 2

Do you remember the paperwork in black and white? This is a detail in fabric. We worked hard on sunday...
It is not finished...but we got homework this time: it has to be finished next time (april...). That will help.

Na het ontwerpen in zwart/wit stond zondag in het teken van de lapjes en kon ik kleur gebruiken. Je moet het dan altijd maar doen met wat je bij je hebt... Zo ben ik nog niet helemaal content met de witte knoopjes, maar ja, alle gekleurde lagen thuis...Er moet dus nog wel wat aan gebeuren. Bij de volgende duikvlucht bijeenkomst moet dit quiltje op A3 formaat af zijn....dit is in april....en volgens mij....gaat de tijd heel snel!

Punt en lijn

Yesterday I had a half day off. First I had to bring my son to his grandparents in Rotterdam. Afterwards i travelled to The Hague, to my mother: we have a quiltcours this weekend.

I decided to travel by Naaldwijk: there is a new quiltshop: just to have a look. Nice shop: not my choice of colour (there was not so much colour...), but nice to see.

Their was a class busy and I heard a familiar voice....it was Ted Storm....and her famous appliqué course. For hand appliqué I use her methods. It was nice to meet her there. She showed me her work in progress on her iPad: as allways: WOW.

One of the students was Marcha. I recognised from her blog. It was nice to meet you too, Marcha!

And the course is with Dineke Ugen and this weekend we are working with point and line

We had to design with black and white paper.... a lot of cutting,looking, thinking etc

At the end of the day I had this flower. Tomorrow is the translation to colour and fabrics.....

Gisteren via Rotterdam en Naaldwijk naar Den Haag.

In Naaldwijk bracht ik een bezoek aan de Quilthoeve, een nieuwe quiltwinkel. Gewoon om eens even te kijken en te proeven...het is fijn als je een klant gericht kunt doorsturen als je zelf een bepaalde stijl niet hebt of een stukje stof is op....

In de lesruimte hoorde ik een bekende stem: Ted Storm was daar aan het lesgeven. Dus snel even naar binnen geglipt en gezien wat ze aan het doen waren....hard aan het werk: appliqueren. Deze cursus heb ik jaren geleden ook gevolgd en de techniek gebruik ik ook basis bij het appliqueren en het aanleren van de eerste beginselen.

Een van de cursisten was Marcha: ik ken haar van het bloggen.

Leuk om elkaar te ontmoeten!

Vandaag alleen maar aan het ontwerpen geweest met papier. Heel veel strookjes wit geknipt en op zwart geplakt.....Je ziet hier het eerste en laatste plakwerk. Morgen aan de slag met stoffen en garens. En dan ook met kleur natuurlijk.

 Last weekend I had an interesting workshop. The theme: Tree of life. And do what you want!
I had a lot of nice threads, ribbons and buttons. And in my mind wonderful tree: the Magnolia. Beautiful at this time of the year.

 I made some delicate lace with voile and threads. The fabric you do not need is burned after the sewing.

I made also a nice piece of quiltwork. Different threads: the basic for my magnolia flowers.

Afgelopen weekend was het weer tijd voor een duikvlucht. Werken met voile en soldeerbout om kantachtige structuren te creeëren. Ons werkthema was de Levensboom. Hoe je dat invult mag je zelf weten. Ik koos voor de Magnolia als inspiratie, samen met zelfgeverfde stof en een heleboel kantjes, lintjes, knoopjes en kralen. Het moet een drie-dimensionale boom worden...In het volgende bericht meer!

Homework

Two times a year I have a quiltcourse. A lot of experimental quilting with paint and thread etc.
We got our homework for the upcoming event! Think about your personal theme (Circus), we got this in March and collect some items you like to use during the weekend. I have no idea what we are going to do, but I started collecting: Some blocks of an unfinished quilt. I decided not to finish this quilt, so maybe I can use those blocks and red/pink fabric for something else. I also have a lot of candy wrappers (Quality street) in bright and shiny colours. I bought this candy in a nice tin at the Amsterdam airport on our way to Las Vegas in January. I liked the tin for my buttons.... and I saved all the wrappers..... Guess what I did with the candy?

Twee keer per jaar heb ik zelf een quiltcursus. Veel experimenteel werk met verf en garen. Gisteren kregen we ons eerste huiswerk voor het komende weekend. Denk na over je persoonlijke thema (circus), dat je gekregen hebt in maart en verzamel wat spullen die je wilt gebruiken. Ik heb geen idee wat we gaan doen, maar verzamelen kan: Een paar blokken van een onafgemaakte quilt. Ik heb besloten deze quilt niet af te maken en misschien kan ik de blokken en stoffen in rood/roze voor iets anders gebruiken. Verder heb ik een heleboel snoeppapiertjes (Quality street) in heldere, stralende kleuren. Ik kocht deze snoepjes in een leuk blikje op Schiphol op weg naar Las Vegas. Ik vond het blikje zo leuk voor mijn knoopjes.....bewaarde alle papiertjes....en raad wat ik met de snoepjes heb gedaan?
