Welcome....

Welcome to my new followers.
There was a question about all those needles. What to use when?
Normally the regular one fits for all kinds of patchwork and quilting! I use nr. 80 for the patchwork and machine applique. Also for the quilting when I use the normal sewing threads.
If you use another thread during machine quilting you can use nr. 90 or 100. A bigger eye and it makes a bigger hole to make sure the thread goes well up and down all the layers without problems.
When you use metallic thread or other delicate threads the topstitchery neeldes are nice.
A needle with two eyes: when you use two threads at the same time.
And all those other ones: Art quilters are also sewing strange materials like plastics, paper and chips bags...or whatever they find!
I think you do not find all the information about needles in the books. Try and try again.

  1. Francoise thank you for the clear explanation! I'm not a quilter myself, but love to read the quilting blogs!

  2. Right. I am very happy if I find the on switch in one go....the needle will have to take care of itself for now. Altough...it does sound nice, machine applique.
Have a great holiday, in spite of the rain!
